‘YOU CAN’T CONTROL HOW OTHER PEOPLE THINK OF YOU AND YOU HAVE TO BE COMFORTABLE WITH THAT’
You’ve heard it before I’m sure, but have you really worked at embodying this liberating truth?
Let me put it another way.
What other people think about you is about them, it’s not about you! They may be critical, judgmental, forgiving or kind – but whichever option they choose is not your responsibility.
When you make up what somebody is thinking about you, you’re actually projecting what you really think.
“You think I’m stupid, don’t you?”
No, but you are worried that you’re stupid and that’s why you’re pinning it on me.
A projection is where you don’t own your feeling or belief and therefore you project it onto the other person and makeup that it’s coming from them. Just because you don’t own it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t own – and impact – you or your life.
Freedom is one of my highest values. The feeling of not paying attention to what other people think, or how they judge you, is THE most liberating learning of all.
Free yourself up like the indomitable author of this quote Helen Mirren. Use her as a muse if it helps and embody her spirit. Can you imagine a life where you aren’t checking out other people’s lanes? One where you focus on what you think, what you want and on making sh*t happen. The kind of stuff that creates a life you love. In turn allowing others to live life on their terms without feeling you need to judge them as good or bad, right or wrong.
When we mind our own business and make life a no judgement zone, MAGIC HAPPENS.
