'Aha moments' …….

Embarking upon the path of personal growth means it is  common for a ‘neon sign of arrival’  to come out of nowhere to land at your feet on a regular basis.  The type of universal message that makes you sit up, grin from ear to ear and then stop to consider life at that exact moment!

Is this middle age norm?

Today’s Pilates class, waiting outside the studio for the last class to end, I was in a throng of middle aged women engaged in conversations.  I couldn’t help picking up on their threads and found that every one of them was talking about their children.  I have children of my own and of course love to chat about them but every time a question was asked of these women they referred it back to what their offspring would do, think or be,  in relation to it.

I came away wondering what happens that stops us living life for ourselves, having passions and gifts of our own and allowing them to flourish?  Is this connected to the sometime feeling that as age increases, life events drain our innate va va voom?  Maybe  not  being seen as anything other than someone’s Mother or Wife or Daughter?

I know many people who are shining their lights from every bushel they come across, so I am clear there is another perspective.

It was a scary and interesting observation that took me into Pilates and doing my bit to achieve those tight muscles I hanker after!
